This is one of those cases where I really wish I had any “fallback” scripts left. I had the pun, and I was determined to make it work, long past the point of no return.

I didn’t actually make it work, of course, but we’re stuck with the results anyway…

It seems like this one makes the rounds every few years. I’m never quite certain, sometimes, if the people perpetuating the email chain are in on the joke or truly bamboozled.

This isn’t something I dwell on too long, for fear of losing what little faith in humanity remains in my tarnished little soul…

I stretched this setup a bit more thinly than I normally like, but I couldn’t not share that movie title with the world.

It was sort of a long way to go for a punchline which isn’t exactly guaranteed to cause the slapping of knees… but hey, you get a tiny bit of history and education along with your mild entertainment. What’s not to like?

Alternate Title: “Let Freedom Ring (In Your Ears)”

When offered a free, if “gently used,” network drive device with four times the capacity of my current device and gigabit Ethernet capability, yes, I jumped at it. Almost literally. I spent a portion of the weekend migrating data so I can shut down the old WD Netcenter rig (and store it away for a rainy day or a friend in need).

New toy, yay!

Apparently this has been “alternate lighting week” here at Quacked Panes: Monday’s comic was shot with almost no artificial light at all, and this comic only used one of the gooseneck lamps (and suffered for it, yes). Experimentation is good!

Of course, only after I started posting the comic to the site did I realize that the drive is much bigger than merely 1 gigabyte, which screws up my punny title rather neatly, doesn’t it?

We’ll assume that’s how much Duck Dodgers fanfic Neil’s got squirreled away, how’s that? Ahem.

It’s not every day that I can work in a bad pun and an unrelated Princess Bride moment in the same comic.

I’m sure you’re all quite thankful for that, actually.

There’s a reason I ran with this joke today: My son graduates high school tonight, in a ceremony held at Portland’s Memorial Coliseum. It’ll be my first time inside that venue, which is odd to me considering I’ve lived in this city for over twenty years.

Anyway: I’m clearly the best Dad ever, because I gave my son the gift of a terrible joke on his graduation day.

Clearly, I tell you.

It’s the least I could do for one of my biggest, best fans.

You know, if I keep using Bob then I’m going to have to give him a tag and a slot in the cast page, aren’t I?

It’s funny, I always start out with vague notions for what I’ll do with this duck or that set of ducks, but when production time arrives I find myself going in different directions. Bob was going to be a one-time character over those few comics a while back, but when I came up for this DST-zombie joke I realized that I needed him to give Score someone to play off of. It’s not like anybody else around here has the zed-head perspective required, right?
