But if you’re wondering whether I’ve liked any new music by an actual new band lately, I direct you to a song that is in rapid rotation whenever I get a chance to put on some headphones and jam out: “Hey I Don’t Know” by KONGOS.

I really dug the song, right up to the point where he started singing. Why the special effects?
If I reply to that question with, “Hey I don’t know,” you’ll smack me, won’t you?
I guess I’ve been listening to certain artists (Peter Gabriel leaps to mind) who’ve used vocal effects for too long to have the effects bother me enough to turn me off of a good song. Now, when it takes vocal effects to make a crappy singer sound “better,” that’s when I have problems.
I’ve listened to Kongos a few more times since this morning. I withdraw my prior comment, I must have been in a bad mood.
Grows on you quick, doesn’t it? The other one of theirs I like is “Come With Me Now” while the rest of the tracks I’ve heard are a bit more hit-or-miss for me.
Seemingly more miss than hit, though I’ll agree with “Come With Me Now.”
Those two, though… I see singles in their future.
