The remedy in question is, I kid you not, to use nail polish on all of the capacitors to cover them up so they no longer emit the ultra-high-pitch sound which has been driving me batty for months now. Me and only me, since nobody else can hear it. Mind you, the computer’s in my bedroom, so I’m the one who has to live with it.
Or, you know, I could do something far less risky… like buying a replacement card. Yeah.

I can only imagine the look on the manicurist’s face when you show up with the GeForce 7600 GT…
Actually, not risky. Capacitors are sealed, so no danger of leaks, and they don’t produce enough heat to cause combustion. Go for it, or I’ll do it for you if needed.
